INTRODUCING ISTM

Founded in 2024, the society’s mission is to advance the implementation of medical innovations and scientific research from the laboratory to the patient’s bedside. The organization works to promote collaboration among professionals engaged in scientific and biomedical research, clinical medicine, and health policy, with the goal of developing an ecosystem that facilitates the rapid translation of scientific breakthroughs into tangible healthcare solutions within specialized treatment domains. Emphasizing a patient-centered approach, the organization ensures that scientific and medical advancements align with patients’ needs in targeted treatment areas.

The society will establish a professional forum for scientists, researchers, physician-scientists, and life sciences students in the field of Translational Medicine—a discipline defined by the European Society for Translational Medicine (EUSTM) as an interdisciplinary field integrating three key pillars: laboratory, bedside, and community. Translational medicine brings together scientific disciplines, resources, expertise, and methodologies under these pillars to advance prevention, diagnosis, and medical treatment. Accordingly, translational medicine is a multidisciplinary field aimed at consolidating diverse scientific and clinical resources to enhance the global healthcare system.

The society’s vision is to significantly shorten the time between scientific discovery and clinical application by fostering a culture of international and interdisciplinary collaboration as a standard practice. This will accelerate the iterative process between the laboratory and the patient’s bedside, ultimately creating a reality in which every patient benefits from the latest scientific and medical advancements. Through this, the organization aspires to contribute to the improvement of public health on a global scale.
